Colon Cancer Awareness Month

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.   And, with advances in treatment and diagnostics, more people than ever are being screened and treated before this illness becomes fatal.  This month's Your Health Connection with JaQuitta Williams, she will be joined by:  Dr. Clarence Clark III, MD, FACS, Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Morehouse School of Medicine; and, Colon Cancer Survivor, Burnell Paul.  This taping was recorded on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:00 p.m.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common form of cancer and the second most common cause of cancer deaths in the United States. The chance of developing colorectal cancer increases with age. Now, a study by University of Missouri School of Medicine researchers shows that minority and ethnic groups are being diagnosed with colorectal cancer at younger ages and more advanced stages than non-Hispanic whites.
